Hold Your Fire Tour
Title:
Force Without Form Date: 2/28/88, Peoria, IL Label: Sirius Records Source: Audience Quality Rating: A- |
|
|
Description: Here's an excellent audience recording from the "Hold Your Fire" tour. It's not as sharp and dynamic as "The Dream Ignites" but still one of the best audience shows from this tour in circulation.
Intro Distant Early Warning |
Title:
The Dream Ignites Date: 4/02/88, Omaha, NE Label: Sirius Records Source: Audience Quality Rating: A+ |
|
|
Description: This has to be one of the best audience recordings around, especially for Rush. If you didn't listen closely enough you would swear this was a soundboard. The taper is so close to the speakers that there's hardly any audience noise...the sound spectrum is filled mostly by the band with full separation and astounding clarity. There are lots of highs here and the vocals more or less give away that it's an audience recording. However, if you're a fan of this era, don't delay in getting this one....it's a real find!
Intro Lock and Key |
Title: A Desperate Voice
Date: 4/24/88, Birmingham, UK
Label: Digital Reproductions
Source: Laserdisc
Quality Rating: A+Tracklisting:
The Big Money Subdivisions Marathon Turn The Page Prime Mover Manhattan Project Closer To The Heart Red Sector A Force Ten Time Stand Still Distant Early WarningLock & Key Mission Territories YYZ / The Rhythm Method The Spirit Of Radio Tom Sawyer 2112 La Villa Strangiato In The Mood
Description: This is basically the "A Show Of Hands" laserdisc converted to CD. The advantages to this source over the VHS version is the addition of "Lock & Key", which has never been officially released live. I'm not sure if the version of "Subdivisions" here is the same as the ASOH album or not. They were both recorded at the same location, but not certain if they were both taken from the same performance (I suppose if I listen close enough I can tell!). I know that "The Big Money" and "Manhattan Project" here are different than the version that wound up on the live album, probably because they were taken from another night at this location. Anyway, this is a great show and a must for all Rush fans, even if you have the ASOH VHS or live album of the same name.
