Power Windows Tour
Title:
Quebec '86 (1DVD) Date: 3/3/86, Quebec City, Canada Label: Unknown Source: Audience Quality Rating: C+ |
|
Description: Here's an audience shot from the "Power Windows" tour. I think the janitor had the cam mounted on his broom handle. Actually, it's not that bad. The quality here is not great at all, but you can check out what's going on. I never saw this tour so it was interesting for that. The angle is fine and taper does a good job of staying on the band but the video is a bit dark and the sound not so great, but you do get to see them perform "Middletown Dreams", a rare live gem. For diehards only. |

Title:
Mid-American Dreams, PE Date: 3/24/86, Milwaukee, WI Label: Digital Reproductions Source: Audience (1st Gen) Quality Rating: A/A+ |
|
Description: Here's an excellent audience show from the "Power Windows" tour. Not only is the sound here very clear with just enough bottom end, but you also get great versions of "Grand Designs" and "Red Lenses", which are rare live, even in bootleg circles. This is no doubt the best audience boot from this tour and the band's performance here is very strong and tight. Strongly recommended! |

Title:
Philadelphia Project Date: 4/16/86, Philadelphia, PA Label: Rush-Signals Productions Source: Soundboard (1st Gen) Quality Rating: A+ |
|
Description: This is one of the best sounding Rush boots out there and a must for all Rush fans. With this new release, it makes "Mystic Dreams" obsolete for two reasons. Firstly, it restores a few songs which weren't included on "Dreams" including, "Manhattan Project", "Marathon" and a longer version (though still not complete) of YYZ/Drum Solo. Another reason it's better is the improved sound, which I believe is now closer to the source. This is an honest to goodness, direct from soundboard bootleg and it kicks ass (for lack of better words). The quality is top notch...very clean, bright and full. You couldn't ask for more in the sound department. My only beef is that it's not the whole show. However, we do get some nuggets like "Middletown Dreams" and "Territories". It would have been nice to get "Grand Designs" as well...but I'll certainly take this one with no complaints. The guitars are mixed kinda low at the beginning of the show but midway through TSOR they come in just fine. This is an absolute must for any Rush collector, no question. It has spoiled me when it comes to sound quality...and is the benchmark for the Quality Ratings that I've been giving on this site. |

Better Beer Date: 3/24/86, Milwaukee, WI Label: Moose Records Source: Audience Quality Rating: A- |

Description: This is an excellent audience recording from the Power Windows tour. There are a few nice things about this boot. Firstly, we get a live version of "Grand Designs", which was only performed on this tour, never released officially and rare on the bootleg scene. Secondly, it's the entire show so the mood isn't interrupted as on Mystic Dreams. Thirdly, it sounds very good for an audience boot. The recording is very bright with all instruments coming through pretty clearly. There may be a few occasions where you can hear someone talk, but it never interferes with the performance. Highly recommended. |

Mystic Dreams Date: 4/16/86, Philadelphia, PA Label: Whatever Source: Soundboard Quality Rating: A |
|
Description: This is an awesome boot from Rush! This was a must-have for fans, but with the recent release of "Philadelphia Project" (see above), it renders "Mystic Dreams" practically obsolete. The reason is because "PP" is more complete (although not totally complete) and has better sound (closer to the source). For the definitive version of this show, please see "Philadelphia Project" above. | |
